Desk plans for Shed building
Why build your own desk? For one thing, it saves you money and second, you know how to build one, so why not? A computer desk is somewhere you will spend some quality time so it would be good to ensure the desk meets all your needs.
Some people require a bigger desk, some a smaller one, others have special needs that has to be incorporated in the desk. By constructing this yourself you get to have a completely personalized desk.
There is a standard measurement for most furniture but desks and chairs have to be ergonomically correct so you avoid muscle strain on your neck, shoulder, arms, back and legs. Surprised? Well it’s true. These pieces of furniture are something that you spend quite a bit of your day on, therefore if improperly measured can potentially lead to muscle problems later on.
The best way to start with this project is to of course have a nice set of computer desk plans which are available in most shed building plans as well.
Here is an approximation of the ideal height and depth when it comes to this very important piece of furniture.
Height of desk – 30”
Depth of desk – 30” to 36”
Height of keyboard shelf – 26.5” or same height as your elbow when sitting down
Width of the desk – 48”
Height and depth of computer chair – between 24” to 27”
Remember to allow enough space for items normally found in a computer desk and if you’re feeling adventurous, why not build your own set of office drawers as well?
